Oriane has been walking alone through the jungle ever since a fire destroyed her palace and her family. She does not know where she is going. She simply keeps moving.
One evening, she meets a white lion, as luminous as the first snowfall. He sees how tired and lonely she is and offers her a ride on his back. Together, they venture into a world of fireflies, giant ferns, and secret paths.
Nothing is fixed by magic. The book tells the story of the journey that follows a loss: finding the strength to breathe again, then the ability to marvel, and then the idea that, at the end of the path, something new may still be waiting.
Please note before buying: this is the most serious title in the collection. It deals with grief, with great gentleness but without avoiding the subject. It may help a child going through a loss—or unsettle another if read without an adult present to talk about it.
What the child gains
- Putting difficult emotions into words — sadness, loneliness, and fear, addressed without minimizing them.
- Resilience — taking one step at a time when the way out is not yet visible.
- Accepting help — the white lion does not save Oriane; he accompanies her.
- Finding beauty again — learning to marvel once more, even in dark moments.

Un chef-d'œuvre de poésie. Les enfants ne s'en lassent pas.
Mes petits-loulous adorent – Une lecture calme qui change des jeux bruyants. Les enfants restent captivés du début à la fin.
